Career Highlights

• Influential Leadership: As the former President & CEO of the Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO), Connie has dynamically transformed the microbusiness landscape in the U.S. Her strategic initiatives revitalized the organization, integrating customer-centric technology, forming strategic alliances, and amplifying its influence on national policies aimed at supporting underserved entrepreneurs.
• Pioneering Initiatives: Connie established the Women’s Self-Employment Project (WSEP), the pioneering U.S. microenterprise program for economically disadvantaged women. Her groundbreaking work includes launching the first U.S. urban adaptation of Bangladesh’s Grameen Bank model and initiating Individual Development Accounts.
• Global Impact: Connie has served as a consultant and strategist for renowned international organizations including the World Bank, DFID, and USAID. Her global expertise is underpinned by work that spans significant policy initiatives and program developments aimed at fostering sustainable economic growth.

Professional Experience and Recognition

Connie has not only directed visionary strategies but has also executed pivotal roles that drove organizational success and policy reform. Her leadership has been recognized with the first Presidential Award for Excellence from the Clinton White House, among other accolades. She has held numerous presidential appointments under both the Clinton and Obama administrations.

Her historical appointment as the first Black woman on the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and being selected for the PayPal Maggie Lena Walker Achievement Award marks two  significant milestones in her career. Additionally, her current board role at Cadence OTC reflects her active engagement in emerging sectors like pharmaceutical startups.
